Barry Morris
Founder & Managing Director, Queensland, Australian Capital Territory
Barry Morris holds a Bachelor of Economics from the Australian National University, in which he focused on the studies of Accounting and Finance.
From 1978, he invested in property, acquired and operated hospitality and retail properties before venturing into property development with James Court in 1992.
Since then, Barry has successfully developed over $1.2 billion in various property segments as a principal of Morris Group, Amalgamated Property Group and Amalgamated Property Group Queensland. The establishment of an in house construction company, which has delivered over $500 million in construction works, has enabled Barry to operate an integrated construction, development and property investment business in which buildability and livability go hand-in-hand to deliver superior product to both investors and occupiers.
In 2009, Barry and daughter Louise launched Morris Property Group. Barry manages developments and investments for Morris Property Group in Canberra, Queensland and Victoria and continues to manage developments and investment properties in Queensland as principal of APGQ.
James Morris
Chief Operating Officer & Construction Director, Queensland, Australian Capital Territory
James commenced his career at Morris Property Group in 2007 on its very first construction project known as Sierra Grand Broadbeach.
From there, James expanded his skillset while working on other high-rise projects in Queensland before relocating to Canberra where, in 2014, he was appointed Project Manager for the redevelopment of the Canberra House and Mayfair mixed use precinct.
Following the successful completion of this project and due to the expansion of MPG’s development and construction activities, James was appointed Director of MPG Constructions heading up MPG’s construction activities in Canberra, Brisbane and Gold Coast.
More recently, James has taken over operational oversight of all of MPG’s business activities to ensure the implementation of “The Morris Way” and continue to build on the legacy and vision created by Barry over his 45 years in business.
Roman Abdel-Massih
General Counsel, Queensland, Australian Capital Territory
Roman is a practising lawyer, specialising in property, planning and construction law. Roman holds a Bachelor and Master of Laws from the Australian National University. Admitted to practise law in 2014, Roman worked previously as a lawyer at a boutique firm, specialising in litigation. He then moved in-house in construction prior to joining MPG. As General Counsel for MPG, Roman provides legal advice and representation across the Group throughout the full project life cycle.
Jessica Judd
Commercial Manager, Queensland, Australian Capital Territory
Jessica joined Morris Property Group in 2014 and has been involved with the successful delivery of several projects across the MPG portfolio. As National Commercial Manager, Jessica works with all construction project teams providing support, strengthening process and efficiencies. Jessica also oversees all stages of project delivery including DA Approval, Cost Planning, Design Coordination, Procurement, Commercial Reporting and Handover.
Jessica has worked in the Building and Construction Industry for over 17 years and has experience on a variety of projects in QLD and ACT including Commercial and Residential High Rise, Retail, Government, Aged Care and Industrial developments.
David Harris
Group Financial Controller , Queensland, Australian Capital Territory
David is responsible for the treasury and corporate finance functions of the Group.
Prior to joining MPG, David’s background resided in marketing and tax accounting, before making the transition to the commercial sector with Mantra Group.
David has a Masters in Professional Accounting from RMIT University, a Bachelor of Business in Sports Management and Psychology from Griffith University and is an ASA member of CPA, with full membership anticipated during 2023.
Kelsi Gormly
HR & Office Manager, Queensland, Australian Capital Territory
A career originating in accounts and office administration, Kelsi’s passion to progress has extended her proficiency to manage the execution of company-wide initiatives, policies and processes.
Kelsi is responsible for managing and guiding the administrative office team, performing a variety of strategic HR functions related to the daily operations of Morris Property Group.
Geordie Edwards
Development Director, Australian Capital Territory
Geordie joined Morris Property Group in 2013 and has been responsible for delivery of several projects across the MPG portfolio in the ACT. Geordie has extensive experience in the real estate industry including a multidisciplinary background in commercial valuations, town planning, asset and facilities management and development, which adds a wealth of knowledge to his approach. This experience has proven invaluable in providing leadership to project teams and ensuring successful end-to-end delivery of a diverse range of residential, commercial and retail projects.
Geordie holds a Bachelor of Property and Sustainable Development from Bond University.
Sam Stubbings
Senior Development Manager, Queensland
Sam has diverse experience in the property industry with a background in commercial property sales & leasing and town planning. Sam holds a Bachelor of Urban and Environmental Planning from Griffith University in Brisbane.
Sam joined Morris Property Group in May 2019 and has been responsible for delivery of several projects across the MPG portfolio, as well as achieving Development Approvals for a range of new developments throughout the Gold Coast.
Kieren Sutton
Senior Development Manager, Canberra, Australian Capital Territory
Since joining Morris Property Group in 2015, Kieren has been involved in the successful delivery of a number of large scale mixed-use projects. As Development Manager, Kieren is involved throughout all aspects of the development life cycle including acquisition, design, marketing and completion.
Kieren holds a Bachelor of Environments (Property) from The University of Melbourne.
Travis Welsh
Director of Real Estate QLD, Queensland, Australian Capital Territory
Travis has qualifications in business, finance and property development and is currently studying a Masters in both Business Administration and Law from University of NSW.
Prior to joining MPG, Travis worked in Canberra with a multi-national property company across some of the city’s most significant residential developments, including those by MPG. Upon relocating to Queensland in 2017, Travis worked in agency across a range of residential developments in South East QLD before making the move to MPG in 2020.
Travis now manages MPG’s extensive portfolio of residential developments across Queensland to deliver Project Sales and Marketing, Leasing, Management Rights, Building/Facilities Management, Short-Term Leasing (Hotel Management) and Property Management. Travis’ extensive experience in these areas allows the MPG team to deliver end to end property solutions for our valued clients.
Chloe Fahy
Marketing Coordinator , Queensland, Australian Capital Territory
As the marketing coordinator, Chloe specialises in developing and implementing innovative marketing strategies across all QLD and ACT residential projects. Her expertise includes managing suppliers, developing EDMs, overseeing CRM operations, and supporting the sales team to achieve exceptional results.
Chloe graduated with a Business degree, majoring in Marketing from the University of Canberra in 2023. She is passionate about driving growth and enhancing brand presence through creative and effective marketing approaches.
Malik Hayat
General Manager - Hotels, Queensland
As General Manager of Hotels, Malik leads multiple MPG hotels in Queensland, ensuring their financial and operational success. Malik boasts extensive experience managing hotel accommodation and food outlets for a range of renowned multinational brands. After undertaking training in business and real estate, he kick started his career as an Assistant Manager in Sydney, ascended the ranks within the organization, to Resort Manager in Coffs Harbour and later General Manager in Airlie Beach.
In 2021, Malik transitioned to a role managing Five hotels across Central Queensland, including more than 400 hotel rooms, 250+ staff, operational activities, business development, food outlets, events and conference facilities.
Malik also volunteers with the Queensland Government’s tourism department, dedicating his efforts to the promotion of tourism within the region.
Mayank Singh
Hotel Manager - Sandbar, Queensland
Mayank is our experienced hotel manager at Sandbar Burleigh, bringing with him 7 years’ experience in hotel management. Throughout his years in the industry, he has developed a proficiency in providing positive guest experiences, hotel revenue optimization, and operational development. Mayank holds a Master of international tourism and Hospitality management from Griffith University Gold Coast.
Mayank’s professional background includes a strong track record in overseeing hotel operations, ensuring a positive guest experience, and implementing strategies for revenue growth. His expertise lies in the comprehensive management of hotels, focusing on smooth day-to-day operations, guest relations, and compliance with industry standards.
Lloydy Davies
Hotel Manager - Opus & Essentia, Queensland
With an extensive background in marketing, sales, and customer service, Lloydy brings a wealth of expertise to her position as a hotel/building manager. Complemented by her academic accomplishments in travel and tourism, her skills provide a robust foundation overseeing operations. Her comprehensive understanding of consumer behavior and industry trends allows her to efficiently manage operations, enhance guest satisfaction, and drive overall business success.
Amanda Butler
Hotel Manager - Koko, Queensland
Amanda joined the MPG team in 2023 as Hotel Manager for Koko Broadbeach. She holds a Bachelor of Administration in Tourism and Hotel Management and brings with her a diverse career in the hotel and tourism industry. Amanda has worked in various sectors of the industry across both marketing and management positions.
In the recent years, she has diverted her career to real estate sales and building management with a focus on short-term letting.
Alana Ward
Property Manager , Queensland
Alana brings over 10 years of experience to her property management role. She oversees the comprehensive management and administration of all Morris Property rentals on behalf of tenants. Alana’s primary responsibilities include ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of rental properties, cultivating positive tenant relations, and ensuring compliance with regulatory obligations. Her expertise and dedication contribute to the seamless management of our rental apartments.
Maica Laganin
Guest Service Agent, Queensland
Maica is our longest-serving Guest Service Agent, working at both Koko and Opus in Broadbeach. With a robust background in hospitality and customer service, she brings invaluable expertise to her role.
Having previously worked in building management in Far North Queensland for several years, Maica has honed her skills in handling diverse responsibilities. Her commitment to excellence and adeptness in managing multifaceted tasks make her a valuable member of the MPG team.
Jessica Flanagan
Assistant Property Manager, Queensland
Jessica’s is our dedicated Assistant Property Manager, overseeing the day-to-day operations of long-term leasing. With meticulous attention to detail, Jessica manages administrative tasks, conducts property showings, and ensures compliance through regular inspections. Collaborating with contractors, she coordinates maintenance updates to maintain our property standards and ensure tenant satisfaction. Jessica prioritizes building strong relationships with our occupants and maintains clear communication channels to ensure their needs are met effectively.
Farzad Emami
Project Director, Australian Capital Territory
Farzad joined the Canberra based construction division of Morris Property Group in 2014 having previously completed a wide range of high end single residential homes, boutique townhouse projects and specialised fit outs. Since then, Farzad has gone on to oversee a number of high rise residential and large scale commercial projects ensuring success and a positive outcome for the client while dealing with unique challenges each project faces.
Farzad continues to improve his knowledge of construction through his continued education and has completed his Bachelor’s degree in Applied Science – Construction Management through Curtin University.
Barry Parsons
Corporate Safety Officer, Queensland, Australian Capital Territory
Barry has over 25 years of training and experience in the Work Health & Safety industry and has been instrumental in assisting 20+ companies achieve OFSC compliance across Australia.
Barry commenced his role as Morris Property Group’s Corporate Safety Officer in 2016 having previously worked as a Consultant in his own business. Barry’s role enables him to share his experiences with fellow workers with the endeavour of making our industry a safer place for everyone involved. Barry received his Diploma in Work Health Safety from National Qualifications Australia in 2011 and was recognised as a lead auditor for Quality, Safety & Environmental management systems in 2003.
Edgar Sharp
Estimating Manager, Australian Capital Territory
Joining Morris Property group in 2018, Edgar brings 15 years’ experience in Construction Estimating and Contract Administration, across a range of Residential, Aged Care and Government projects in Queensland and the ACT. As part of the management team for the ACT, Edgar is responsible for cost planning, procurement, commercial reporting and providing support to the ACT CA team.
Wyatt Williams
Contracts Manager , Queensland
Wyatt joined MPG in 2021, bringing 30 plus years’ experience to his role. Starting his carpentry apprenticeship in the 90’s, Wyatt has since developed a broad range of skills and knowledge in Estimating, Cost Planning, Design Management, Contract Administration, and Project Management, across Domestic, Residential, Aged Care, Retail, Hospitality and Commercial sectors in Queensland.
As part of the management team for QLD, Wyatt is responsible for cost planning, procurement, design management and providing support to the QLD construction team.
Leilani Van Dohren
Senior Accountant , Queensland
As Senior Accountant, Leilani brings with her 13 year’s experience as an accountant in the commercial space. She has a background working in retail, property development and funds management. Leilani holds a Bachelor of Commerce, Majoring in Accounting from Griffith University and received her CPA in 2015.
Kimmi Compain
Reception & Administration Officer , Queensland
With a varied administrative background, mainly in the legal sector, Kimmi has transitioned her career to property with MPG. She brings a fresh perspective to customer service and plays a pivotal role in supporting the accounts team, handling inquiries from customers and suppliers, managing office supplies, and overseeing invoices.
Sandra Marshall
Sales Executive, Queensland
As a dedicated Sales Executive at MPG, Sandra excels in achieving industry-leading sell-outs of Hi-Rise apartments and setting suburb records for Townhome clusters. She has 15 years of experience as a quantity estimator in the residential sector, specialising in Residential Builders, Aged Community Developments, and commercial shop fits. Additionally, she has spent 10 years as a residential senior executive, focusing on custom floor plan design and sales. Her expertise also includes 15 years in Off-Plan projects, covering site acquisition, plan design, marketing, and sales.
Sandra’s comprehensive industry experience, from construction to sales, combined with her personal life experiences, such as raising grandchildren, managing mortgages, and investing in property, provides her with a like mindedness that enables her to connect with buyers at a more personal level.
Mark Krug
Sales Executive, Queensland
Mark returned to Morris Property Group in 2023 as a Sales Executive, bringing with him over 20 years of extensive experience in residential sales and Project Marketing. His expertise spans across various Gold Coast developments, encompassing diverse scales and stages of completion. Mark’s track record boasts successful sell-outs of developments across Gold Coast and Tweed Coast.
Mark has a proficiency for building and nurturing relationships with clients throughout the development lifecycle. Having commenced his Project Marketing career with Morris Property Group many years ago, Mark is thrilled to rejoin the team and play a pivotal role in shaping the Gold Coast skyline once again.
