Morris Files Plans for Fifth Burleigh Heads Project

29 Apr 2022

Queensland developer Morris Property Group has lodged plans for a 198-apartment tower at Burleigh Heads, its fifth project in the booming southern pocket of the Glitter Strip.

The 2024sq m site at 1873-1875 Gold Coast Highway was acquired in 2021 and is next door to Boardwalk Burleigh, another MPG project.

It is an amalgamation of 16 two-bedroom apartments over two blocks, which will make way for a 25-storey apartment tower with coastal views.

The development comprises 14 three-bedroom apartments and 184 two-bedroom apartments with four basement levels of resident car parking and visitor parking at ground level.

MPG director Barry Morris said the double-block site was close to Burleigh’s dining precinct and beaches.

“We saw a great opportunity for this site as it’s ideally positioned to offer direct access to popular destinations including James Street and Goodwin Terrace,” Morris said.

“I’ve noticed in-market buyers are drawn to the relaxed lifestyle of Burleigh Heads while seeking high quality and functional apartments at an affordable price point.”

Canberra-based architects Guida Moseley and Brown designed the modulated apartment tower to “integrate with the surrounding area, and includes textured concrete, tinted glass and turquoise elements, capturing the coastal lifestyle”.

The development also includes 1275sq m of communal open space on level 2 with a main pool, wading pool, sun decks, indoor lounge, gymnasium and yoga lawn.

MPG is continuing to pad out its pipeline of development on the Gold Coast.

Sandbar, a 26-storey apartment tower in Burleigh Heads, is currently under construction while it has filed development applications for two projects in Broadbeach.

Crest is a 37-storey, 157-apartment tower, while Malo is a nine-storey boutique apartment tower featuring 16 three-bedroom apartments.
