Barry Morris

Director, Australian Capital Territory, Queensland, Victoria

Barry Morris holds a Bachelor of Economics from the Australian National University, in which he focused on the studies of Accounting and Finance.

From 1978, he invested in property, acquired and operated hospitality and retail properties before venturing into property development with James Court in 1992.

Since then, Barry has successfully developed over $1.2 billion in various property segments as a principal of Morris Group, Amalgamated Property Group and Amalgamated Property Group Queensland. The establishment of Amalgamated Constructions (Qld) Pty Limited, which alone has delivered over $500 million in construction works, has enabled Barry to operate an integrated construction, development and property investment business in which buildability and livability go hand-in-hand to deliver superior product to both investors and occupiers.

In 2009, Barry and daughter Louise launched Morris Property Group. Barry manages developments and investments for Morris Property Group in Canberra and Queensland and continues to manage developments and investment properties in Queensland as principal of APGQ. Morris Property Group continues in its integration with Amalgamated Constructions (Qld) Pty Limited for the delivery of its projects in Queensland and Canberra.

James Morris

Construction Director, Australian Capital Territory, Queensland, Victoria

James commenced his career as a Cadet Engineer with MPG’s construction company in 2007 working on Sierra Grand Broadbeach.

James expanded his skillset while working on other high profile projects in Queensland such as Element Burleigh Beach and 179 Turbot Street in Brisbane before undertaking the Site Foreman role at Eclipse Broadbeach. In 2012 James relocated to Canberra as Contracts Administrator at Sentinel Belconnen and in 2014 James was appointed Project Manager for the Canberra House redevelopment including the 191 residential apartment project known as Mayfair.

Following the successful completion of Mayfair and due to the expansion of MPG’s development and construction activities, James was been appointed Director of MPG Constructions heading up MPG’s construction activities in Canberra, Brisbane and Gold Coast.

As Construction Director, James is responsible for MPG’s projects, reviewing design and construction methods and implementing ‘The Morris Way’ to produce synergies and efficiencies across the design and construction teams.

Additionally James is responsible for overseeing tendering, budgeting, monthly cost reporting and programming and reporting to MPG’s Upper Management Meeting.

Sue Day

Finance Manager, Queensland

Sue joined Morris Property Group in May 2007, shortly after arriving from the UK. She has over 20 years experience in the Insurance and Finance sector, including 10 years at Liverpool Victoria, one of the UK’s largest insurance companies.

Her time there also included a 2 year internal secondment to work as a Productivity Analyst, to identify areas of process improvement in all areas of the business.

At Morris Property Group Sue is responsible for supervising and controlling all aspects of the group’s financial operations as well as the day to day running of the Finance and HR Department. Sue is also involved in the budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting for all projects undertaken by Morris Property Group through all stages, from development to construction and finally to settlement.

Brodie Lister

General Manager Development, Queensland

Brodie Lister has over 10 years’ experience in the Development industry on varied high-profile local and international projects.

Brodie holds a Business Degree and also a Masters Degree in Urban Development. Brodie has previous development experience on a number of projects including The Wave Broadbeach, Blue C apartments Coolangatta, Metropole apartments Brisbane and a 185 acre resort and gated estate whole-of-Island development in Fiji.

Brodie joined the Development team at Amalgamated Property Group in 2004 and has been responsible for coordinating projects such as Verve Broadbeach, Ivory Burleigh beach, Sierra Grand Broadbeach, Element Burleigh Beach, Eclipse Broadbeach & Synergy Apartments Broadbeach.

Brodie is currently responsible for the end-to-end development management of Morris Property Group projects in Brisbane, Gold Coast and Sydney. His role includes site and investment acquisition analysis, town planning, concept designs, feasibility studies, authority approvals, marketing and sales, design coordination, finance and project completion. Brodie also manages Morris Property Group’s commercial investment assets 143 Turbot and 179 Turbot St Brisbane.

Geordie Edwards

Development Manager, Queensland, Victoria

As Development Manager Geordie is responsible for end-to-end delivery of developments located in the ACT, Queensland and Victoria.

Geordie has diverse experience in the property industry with a background in commercial valuations, town planning and project management.

Geordie holds a Bachelor of Property and Sustainable Development with majors in Property Valuation and Urban Development and Sustainability from Bond University on the Gold Coast.

Geordie joined Morris Property Group in January 2013 and has been responsible for delivery of several projects across the MPG portfolio.

Kieren Sutton

Development Manager, Australian Capital Territory

Since joining Morris Property Group in 2015, Kieren has been involved in the successful delivery of a number of large scale mixed-use projects.

As Development Manager Kieren is involved throughout all aspects of the development life cycle including acquisition, design, marketing and completion.

Kieren holds a Bachelor of Environments (Property) from The University of Melbourne.

Luke Kearsley

Assistant Development Manager, Queensland

Luke is an Assistant Development Manager who joined Morris Property Group in 2017.

Luke holds a Bachelor of Property from Bond University on the Gold Coast.

Luke has assisted the delivery of multiple projects across the MPG portfolio and is responsible for assisting end-to-end delivery of development located in Queensland

Sam Pearson

Assistant Development Manager, Australian Capital Territory

Sam joined Morris Property Group in 2019 after spending a period of time working in corporate real estate advisory and the insolvency industry.

During his time working in the advisory field Sam worked across a number of projects including government advisory, delivery of commercial office buildings, land subdivisions and residential projects. Sam holds a bachelor of Commerce majoring in Management and Business Law and Professional Ethics from the Australian National University.

Nick Xenitopoulos

Construction Manager, Queensland

Nick has over 30 years of experience in the construction industry in Australia and abroad.

He has overseen a variety of project types from conception to completion for major clients & Tier 1 builders.

He has delivered high end award winning multi-story residential, Hotel & retail center developments in Queensland for multiple clients.

As our Queensland Construction Manager, Nick works closely with both the development and construction teams to ensure Morris Property Group projects are designed and constructed at the highest level.

Barry Parsons

Corporate Safety Officer, Australian Capital Territory, Queensland

Barry has over 25 years of training and experience in the Work Health & Safety industry and has been instrumental in assisting 20+ companies achieve OFSC compliance across Australia.

Barry has been responsible for the development and implementation of work health & safety management systems for industrial manufacturing plants, transport services and most recently within the civil and construction sector.Barry commenced his role as Morris Property Group’s Corporate Safety Officer in 2016 having previously worked as a Consultant in his own business. Barry’s role enables him to share his experiences with fellow workers with the endeavour of making our industry a safer place for everyone involved. Barry received his Diploma in Work Health Safety from National Qualifications Australia in 2011 and was recognised as a lead auditor for Quality, Safety & Environmental management systems in 2003

Josh Patterson

Site Manager, Queensland

Josh has over 20 years experience supervising and managing high rise and commercial projects throughout southeast Queensland.

He has extensive experience with tier 1 builders and private developers.

Josh started with Morris Property Group in early June 2014 on Synergy Apartments Broadbeach and has played a key role in delivering a number of high end projects.

Craig Nelson

Contracts Manager, Queensland

Craig has over 15 years of experience in the construction industry in Australia and abroad.

Craig has overseen a variety of project types from conception to completion for major Tier 1 Builders. Craig’s industry experience includes the Senior Commercial position at high visibility landmark projects, including Oracle (Gold Coast), 480 Queen Street (Brisbane) and the Parklands Games Village Project (Gold Coast). As the Contracts Manager for Morris Property Group’s Queensland construction division, Craig is responsible for the ongoing supervision of commercial administration while providing support and oversight to the site based Contract Administrators.

Jessica Watene

Senior Contracts Administrator, Queensland

Jessica joined Morris Property Group in 2014 as Contractor Administrator, currently working on Qube, Broadbeach and Otto, Mermaid Beach.

Jessica has been in the construction industry for 12 years working on a variety of projects on the Gold Coast, Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast including High Rise, Retail, Government, Aged Care and Residential. Jessica is responsible for Head Contract Administration, Trade Procurement, Subcontract Lettings, Negotiations, Document and Quantity Controls, Monthly Reporting and assisting the Project Manager with Design Co-ordination and Programming.

Ross Barnes

Senior Project Engineer, Queensland

As the Queensland business’ Senior Project Engineer, Ross is involved throughout all phases of our Queensland projects. This includes managing design, project front end planning, project commencement compliance, technical support during construction and completion hand over supervision.

Ross commenced with Morris Property Group in January 2018 after his extensive experiences throughout Australia and PNG in sectors including retail, office, mining infrastructure, state and federal government, hospitals, cultural precinct and residential.

Ross has attained a Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, a Diploma in Frontline Management, a Certificate IV in Work Health & Safety and holds a QBCC Open Builder’s Licence.

Roman Abdel-Massih

Contracts Manager, Australian Capital Territory

Roman is a practising lawyer, specialising in construction and commercial law.

Admitted to practise law in the ACT in 2014, Roman worked previously as a lawyer at a boutique civil and commercial litigation law firm where he specialised in construction and commercial litigation. Since that time, he has held in-house legal and construction contracts management positions. Roman holds a Master of Laws from the Australian National University. As Contracts Manager for the Morris Property Group’s ACT construction division, Roman provides advice and supervision for legal and commercial matters throughout the full project life cycle.

Edgar Sharp

Senior Contracts Administrator, Australian Capital Territory

Edgar joined Morris Property Group in 2018.

He brings 15 years’ experience in Construction Estimating and Contract Administration, across a range of Residential, Aged Care and Government projects in Queensland and the ACT. As part of the management team for the ACT, Edgar is responsible for cost planning, procurement, commercial reporting and providing support to the ACT CA team.

Michelle Chen

Accountant, Queensland

Michelle joined Morris Property Group in March 2015. Her role at Morris Property Group encompasses various aspects of accounting and finance.

Michelle came to Australia to further her education, and she now holds a masters degree in Accounting, and is continuing to study towards her CPA qualification.

Michelle has previously worked as an accountant for the largest beef export company in the outback for three years. Before that, Michelle worked for Spotless Group Holdings Limited for a number of years.

David Harris

Assistant Accountant, Queensland

David joined Morris Property Group in July 2018 in the role of Assistant Accountant.

With a career originating in sport, David made the transition to accounting in 2016 after attaining a Masters of Professional accounting from RMIT University in Melbourne.

Prior to Morris Property Group, David’s accounting experience resided predominately in tax before commencing his Chartered Accountancy and transitioning to the commercial sector with Mantra Group.

Kelsi Gormly

Office Administrator, Queensland

Kelsi joined the Morris Property Group team in the Queensland office in January 2016 as an Accounts and Office Administrator.

Her role includes accounts receivable and payable functions within the company and has extended her dexterity to assist in managing residential and commercial properties.

Kelsi has become an integral part of not only the administration team, but a highly respected member of the office providing support to the Development Managers and to the Construction Contract Administrators on site.

Kelsi holds a Diploma of Interior Technology, Certificate IV in Residential Interior Design, Certificate IV in Building Design and a Certificate II in Multimedia from the Gold Coast Institute of TAFE.
